Twelve-year-old Rocco organised a triumphant fundraiser at his school this week, raising an impressive $4,246 for cancer research at Peter Mac.

Rocco decided to shave off his mullet (which was a very big deal for him) to raise funds in honour of his Nan. A former patient at Peter Mac, Rocco’s Nan started receiving treatment at Peter Mac in 2020. Sadly, she passed away in February of 2022.

"I am grateful for the care and treatment they provide to people like my Nan, and would like to help them help other people going through cancer."

December 2nd would have been her 60th birthday, and so Rocco shaved off his mullet on the Friday in front of the whole school.

"My aim is to raise $500 between the school casual clothes day and the sponsorships."

Thanks to generous support from students and teachers, Rocco smashed his fundraising goal. The online campaign raised over $3,500, with an additional $681 collected in cash from the school's 'purple day’ event, where students wore purple in solidarity with Peter Mac.
