Our promise to you
As a donor to the Peter MacCallum Cancer Foundation, you play a critical role in helping us to find new and better ways to prevent, detect and treat cancer. You can trust us to be fair, honest, transparent, and to treat you with respect. This is Peter Mac’s Promise to our donors and supporters:
1. We treat you with respect
All support you give, regardless of value, makes a big difference to our cancer research and patient care work. We appreciate all contributions and will ensure you hear about the difference you’re making – with a big thank you from all of us. We love hearing from our community of Peter Mac supporters, so when you contact us you will receive the best possible service. You will be treated with a high level of professionalism, respect and understanding. We have policies in place to protect donors in vulnerable situations and our teams are trained to assist you.
2. We are clear, honest and open
You can trust us to utilise the funds you provide to us wisely in order to make the most impact. We promise to give you regular updates on how gifts are being used via mail, email and the Foundation’s website, so that you can see how your donations are making a difference. Information about the Foundation’s mission, financial statements and governing board are also readily available via our website.
3. We are responsible with your data
We respect your privacy and invest in keeping your personal information safe. We take our privacy obligations very seriously and are compliant with the Australian Privacy Act and adhere to the policies set out in our Privacy Policy (which you can read in full here).
4. We respect your wishes
We love sharing updates on our work and how you can support vital cancer research and patient care projects. However we only want to do so in a way that is convenient for you and cost-effective for us. You can makes changes to your communication preferences, and opt out, of our communications at any time. If you do not want to make a donation, or if you wish to cease your donation, we will respect your decision. If we get something wrong, please let us know and we will do our best to rectify it quickly for you.
5. We endeavour to operate our fundraising to the highest standards
Our fundraising is legal and based on industry best practice. All our fundraising activities are chosen carefully and aimed at raising the most funds possible for cancer research and patient care. We will never compromise our patients, researchers or donors. We comply with the Australian Charity Not-for-profits Commission (ACNC) Legislation and Australian Consumer Law where relevant. In addition, we adhere to the Fundraising Institute Australia Code, a voluntary code of conduct for fundraising in Australia that aims to raise the standard of conduct in the fundraising sector. We require our fundraising suppliers to adhere to the FIA Code. We also abide by with the Public Fundraising Regulatory Association (PFRA) Code.
6. We will listen to you
We love receiving your feedback as we are constantly striving to improve the experience for our donors and supporters. Any complaints we receive are handled promptly, objectively, fairly, and confidentially according to our complaints process. All complaints are recorded, reviewed and used to inform improvements where necessary. If you have a complaint, you can contact us here.
