Craig Connelly

Biography

Craig Connelly is a former partner at Goldman Sachs JBWere (1993 to 2004), co-founder of the Ascot Fund, an Australian equities long/short fund (2004 to 2012), the former Chief Executive Officer of The Ian Potter Foundation (2015 to 2023) and a former Partner with Perpetual Limited’s Community Social & ESG Investment team (2023-2024). Spanning approximately 35 years, Craig’s experience affords him a unique perspective when considering community and social investment.

In Craig’s most recent role as a Partner with Perpetual Limited, Craig helped Perpetual’s philanthropic and not-for-profit clients with thinking deeply about effective philanthropy, social impact, values and investment alignment. Further, he supported these clients in understanding the role Perpetual could play to amplify social impact and social outcomes that benefitted both the clients and Australian society more broadly.

As the Chief Executive Officer of Peter MacCallum Cancer Foundation, Craig is excited to apply his vast experience and professional skills to assist Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre to improve health outcomes for people with cancer through impactful, world-class research and outstanding clinical care.

Outside of Peter MacCallum Cancer Foundation, Craig supports several charitable organisations. He is a Patron of SANE Australia, a co-Chair of the Impact Funders Forum (formerly Transforming Evidence Funders Network) Advisory Group (Washington-based), a member of the Australian living Evidence Collaboration Strategic Advisory Group. He is a former trustee of the National Parks Conservation Trust, and a former Board member of both Watertrust Australia Limited and SANE Australia.
