Melbourne witnessed the debut of its newest major running event last Sunday, — the Brighton Beach Marathon 2025 — with over 7,330 runners running the Beach Road course. The event included a full and half marathon as well as 10km and 5km events.
Amongst a sea of runners, 390 passionate #TeamPeterMac champions? went above and beyond, raising over $46,000 through nearly 1,000 donations to support life-saving cancer research.

What made the day unforgettable wasn’t the kms, but the stories behind every step. At the Peter Mac honour board, fundraisers shared messages of love, determination, and remembrance, reflecting why this cause matters so deeply:
“I ran today for myself after getting diagnosed with leiomysarcoma and as a thank you to Peter Mac. I appreciate you guys heaps. Lots of love, Rowaa xx”
“I run in honour of the BEST Dad/Papa/Husband in the world. Miss you.”
“For everyone special in my life doing THE BIG FIGHT. Love you all, esp you Dad xx and Di xx”

As the official charity partner of this inaugural event, Peter Mac was proud to be part of a day filled with passion, determination, and community spirit. From cheering at the start line to celebrating at the finish, our team witnessed firsthand the incredible impact of our fundraisers and supporters.
This first Brighton Beach Marathon has set a high benchmark, and we couldn’t be prouder of everyone who participated, fundraised, and helped make the day so memorable. Thank you for running for cancer research.
