Friend for Life, Lyn
2 min read 19 November 2022
Lyn is a novelist, editor and consulting writer who lives in the outer eastern suburbs of Melbourne. When she’s not reading or writing, she likes to spend her time with friends and family and out in nature.
She is also one of our incredible Friends for Life – someone who’s made the profound decision to remember Peter Mac in their Will.
We spoke to Lyn about her connection to Peter Mac, and why she decided to include a gift in her Will.
About three years ago, I decided to include Peter Mac in my Will because I like the idea that I am leaving an enduring legacy that will help many other people.
Lyn originally became involved with Peter Mac as a donor.
I set up a regular monthly donation when a friend of mine was dying from cervical cancer about 10 years ago, and I wanted to do something practical and long-term that would make a real difference (over and above what I could do for her before she died).
My sister-in-law died nearly 30 years ago also from cervical cancer, my father died of bowel cancer and two of my aunts had breast cancer so, like most people, I have known many people who have been diagnosed with cancer, far too many of whom have subsequently died. But I also know survivors, and people whose lives have been extended thanks to the treatments they received.
We asked Lyn what she would say to someone who is considering a gift in their Will to Peter Mac?
Leaving a legacy that extends beyond your family is truly heart-warming and one of the best things we can do to make a meaningful contribution to improving the lives of others.
Every gift in Will, no matter how large or small, has been and will continue to be, a lasting legacy to overcoming cancer.
