In 2023 founder of the KISS Aussie & Worldwide Collectors Facebook community set about combining his passion for the band KISS with a commitment to supporting cancer research in an extraordinary way.

Since its creation in 2013, the KISS Aussie & Worldwide Collectors group has grown from a small circle of fans into a global community of over 8,000 members. To celebrate the group's 10-year anniversary in 2023, Phil organised an online fundraiser to support vital cancer research at Peter Mac.

The cause was deeply meaningful to Phil and many in the KISS community, chosen in honour of a valued member, Julian Mains, who received treatment at Peter Mac, as well as others affected by cancer.

Members of the Facebook group donated KISS memorabilia, which was auctioned through the group. Phil was blown away by the generosity and support of the community. Together, they raised an incredible $7,009 for cancer research at Peter Mac.

Following the success of the previous year, Phil took on the challenge of organising the event again in 2024, despite facing his own health challenges. His determination, along with the group’s unwavering commitment led to another successful fundraiser. This time, they surpassed the previous year's effort, raising $7,064 to mark the group's 11th anniversary, with a combined total of $14,073 over 2 years donated to the Peter Mac Cancer Foundation. These funds play a crucial role in supporting life-saving cancer research, innovative treatments, and better health outcomes for people affected by cancer.

Phil’s motivation to fundraise each year is driven not only by the memory of Julian but also by the stories of other members of the KISS community who have been directly affected by cancer and received treatment at Peter Mac.

His belief in the importance of supporting cancer research and care provided by Peter Mac is steadfast.

As Phil says, “If anyone is thinking about supporting Peter Mac, I’d tell them to do it straight away. The Peter Mac team is so professional, and the KISS Aussie & Worldwide Collectors community is grateful for the work they do for cancer research and treatment.”
