Trekking the outback for cancer research
18 February 2022
June was an exciting month for 42 supporters who embarked on the Larapinta Trail, NT to raise funds for cancer research at Peter Mac.
It was a unique experience for our supporters to share, they spent 7 days in the Australian outback, challenging themselves through enduring conditions but beautiful surroundings. Peter MacCallum Cancer Foundation CEO, Kate Torney had the pleasure of joining one of the groups and said it was a remarkable experience.
I got to know a wonderful group of Peter Mac supporters and together we had an unforgettable week which included trekking through breathtaking landscapes followed by happy exhaustion and fireside yarns; lovely long conversations, without distraction; roo stew and so much more.
Not only did the participants ensure a physical challenge, they raised an amazing $202,805 for cancer research. We are extremely grateful for their commitment to the fight against cancer and for their support of Peter Mac.
